Non-Surgical Procedures

Laser Wrinkle Treatment

Laser wrinkle treatment is a non-invasive procedure that addresses all types of skin wrinkles using state-of-the-art laser technology. It delivers significant wrinkle removal by stimulating gradual skin regeneration through controlled damage to the base layers of the dermis. Unlike other wrinkle treatments, laser technology offers ultra-precise results, as well as quicker downtime and recovery.

This treatment makes use of the Palomar Icon™ XD Aesthetic System, an FDA-approved cosmetic laser that targets wrinkles and other signs of aging on the face and body. It provides a near-painless alternative to surgical rejuvenation and offers a more natural option for achieving smoother, younger-looking skin.

Reasons to undergo this procedure

Wrinkles and fine lines are an inevitable part of the aging process, but they can also be acquired through lifestyle habits such as smoking and excessive tanning. In most cases, other issues such as uneven skin tone, textural irregularities, and even loose skin may also be present.

Laser wrinkle treatments can help address a variety of skin concerns, which is why they can be preferable to surgical rejuvenation treatments.

The Palomar Icon™ XD can improve the following issues:

  1. Wrinkles and fine lines
  2. Hyperpigmentation
  3. Uneven skin tone
  4. Rough skin

What are the benefits?

The main attraction of laser wrinkle removal is that it allows patients to enjoy smoother skin without having to go under the knife. It also entails less downtime compared to conventional rejuvenation procedures and produces less drastic and more natural-looking results.

As with any cosmetic treatment, it is important to seek a licensed and board-certified doctor to ensure the best outcome. Dr. Jacob Sedgh is a double-boarded facial plastic surgeon who is known for consistently creating superlative results for his patients, and under his care, patients can expect the following benefits:

  1. Younger-looking skin
  2. Improved skin clarity
  3. Reduced texture imperfections

You can also expect the following during your first meeting:

  1. Complete skin assessment
  2. Thorough evaluation of medical history and lifestyle habits
  3. Explanation of the procedure
  4. Discussion on number of sessions, intensity of laser, and more

If you cannot come in for an in-office consultation, Dr. Sedgh also offers virtual consultations via video conferencing.

LASER WRINKLE TREATMENT PROCEDURE

The Palomar Icon™ XD makes use of potent laser light technology to treat a wide variety of skin concerns on the face and body. Using an innovative component called the Skintel Melanin Reader, it is able to determine the melanin density of the skin, allowing the machine to use the most optimized settings for the patient’s specific skin type. It utilizes an ergonomically designed handpiece that emits intense pulsed light, which targets the affected skin surface to reveal newer and better-looking skin.

Prior to the treatment, your skin will be cleansed thoroughly and prepped with a topical anesthetic to ensure a comfortable experience. Laser treatments are generally pain-free, but the skin is usually still numbed beforehand to avoid any possible discomfort.

You will also be provided with safety eyewear to protect your eyes during the procedure.

Once the machine has been calibrated to the appropriate setting for your complexion type and skin concern, Dr. Sedgh will start by targeting small portions of skin on the target areas. This process will be repeated until all areas have been treated.

Immediately after the laser procedure, the doctor will apply a cooling serum and ample sunscreen to soothe the skin after treatment and protect it from harmful UV rays, which can cause significant hyperpigmentation.

The procedure usually lasts around 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

RECOVERY

A wrinkle laser removal treatment is a simple outpatient procedure with virtually no downtime. Patients are able to go back to their normal activities within the same day, although they may want to stay home and allow the skin to rest for at least 24 hours after treatment. The skin may be slightly red, but this should gradually fade within the next few days.

To allow the skin to heal, it is important to treat your skin gently by only using mild, non-irritating products. Also, refrain from scrubbing the skin while cleansing and avoid prolonged sun exposure, and make sure to wear sunscreen every day.

Your skin may require additional laser treatments to achieve your desired outcome, which is why Dr. Sedgh will typically schedule follow-up appointments to allow him to evaluate your skin’s response to the treatment and to determine whether any additional sessions are needed.
