NECK LIPOSUCTION PROCEDURE

Our neck liposuction is a relatively simple surgery that requires aesthetic precision to ensure the quality of the results. It is performed under local anesthesia with oral or intravenous sedation, or under general anesthesia by request.

Dr. Sedgh will begin the neck liposuction procedure by creating tiny incisions beneath the chin or behind the ears. With a narrow liposuction tube or cannula, he will then remove targeted localized deposits of fat in the area to sculpt and contour the neckline. A special laser may also be used to break down fat cells before the fat is carefully suctioned out of the targeted areas.

As with any procedure, Dr. Sedgh uses extreme care and delicacy to ensure safe and precise fat removal. Once the desired amount of fat has been removed, the doctor will carefully close the incisions and apply a compression dressing to the neck.

Keep in mind that a neck lift can also be performed to address significant skin laxity after fat removal. This may not be necessary for patients between the ages of 20 to 40 years old, as they typically have sufficient elasticity in the skin. However, for older patients with significant skin sagging, the loose appearance of the skin may become enhanced by a neck liposuction procedure.

RECOVERY

Neck liposuction downtime varies from patient to patient, but it should take about two weeks before you can return to your normal activities.

Typically, patients can expect mild bruising and swelling in the neck area during the next 10 to 14 days after the procedure. Some may also experience tightness, stiffness, or numbness in certain areas of the neck, but these side effects will usually dissipate after a week or so.

To prevent infection and to facilitate proper healing, you will be prescribed a specific aftercare regimen and certain medications.
