Male Rhinoplasty

BEFORE & AFTER

WHAT IS MALE RHINOPLASTY?

Male rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that addresses the aesthetic or structural issues of the nose. It is no different from other types of rhinoplasty procedures, but the distinction lies in the primary goal, which is to improve the appearance or function of the nose while maintaining or enhancing the masculinity of the patient’s facial features.

As with any cosmetic nose surgery, this procedure involves individualized alterations to the size and shape of the nose, bridge width and height, or nostril size and position. Male patients can expect natural-looking results that bring balance and harmony to the rest of the face.

WHY UNDERGO MALE RHINOPLASTY PROCEDURE?

Rhinoplasty is a common beautification procedure for women, but men who seek to improve their appearance through nose surgery can also expect successful results without compromising the masculinity of their facial features. Male rhinoplasty involves extreme finesse, extensive knowledge of advanced rhinoplasty techniques, and a deep understanding of the unique characteristics of the male face. This procedure can help address the following issues:

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MALE RHINOPLASTY?

Male rhinoplasty is often more complex than female rhinoplasty due to the physiological nuances that make the male nose inherently masculine. A strategic approach is needed to create the desired results without feminizing the patient’s appearance, which is why the surgeon must have prodigious skill and experience in sculpting a refined, natural-looking nose that retains its inherent masculine characteristics.

As a double-board certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Jacob Sedgh has almost a decade of experience in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery on the head and neck. Under his care, patients can expect the following benefits:

MALE RHINOPLASTY PROCEDURE

Just like other rhinoplasty procedures, male rhinoplasty involves customized techniques to effectively address each patient’s unique needs. However, the doctor must take great care to preserve the inherent masculinity of the patient’s nose while balancing its size and shape with the rest of the face.

There are two methods used in performing rhinoplasty procedures: the open method and the closed method. The closed method is done by making strategic incisions and stitches in hidden locations inside the nose, while the open method is used for more complicated cases and requires the creation of an incision across the columella, which is the strip of skin and cartilage between the nostrils.

The open method is done by separating the skin from the supporting cartilage and bone. The underlying cartilage and bone framework will then be carefully sculpted to achieve your desired shape before the skin is redraped over the exposed nasal structure.

Once the adjustments have been made, Dr. Sedgh will carefully close incisions to minimize visible scarring. In most cases, a splint will be installed within the nose to keep the septum in place and to maintain its new shape.

The procedure usually takes between two to three hours, but may take longer for patients who have to undergo more complicated procedures.

MALE RHINOPLASTY RECOVERY

Male rhinoplasty is usually performed as an outpatient procedure. The expected downtime is quite minimal, and patients are usually able to return to their normal activities within a week after the surgery. However, it will take several weeks before they can take part in strenuous activities.

After the procedure, there may be some visible swelling and bruising, nasal congestion, and possibly some discomfort or pain. You will be advised to follow all post-op instructions and take the prescribed medications in order to effectively manage these side effects and to make your recovery more comfortable.

It is important to facilitate proper healing to ensure a smooth and healthy recovery, which is why Dr. Sedgh will personally monitor your post-surgery progress through regularly scheduled follow-up appointments from the first day up to a year after the procedure.
