Male Cheek Augmentation

Male cheek augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that aims to enhance the appearance of the cheek area by addressing any issues with either the bony or soft tissue components, or both. It is performed using a variety of methods, including bony augmentation, soft tissue enhancement, fat grafting, or the installation of biocompatible facial implants.
When sculpted in such a way that promotes balance and harmony with the rest of the facial features, well-contoured cheeks and sharply defined cheekbones can help increase the aesthetic quality of the patient’s facial appearance. They also help restore or reinforce the patient’s youthfulness and masculinity.

REASONS TO UNDERGO THIS PROCEDURE

Slim cheeks and elevated cheekbones are considered inherently masculine traits. But while some are born with these facial characteristics, they can also be achieved through cosmetic surgery. Cheek augmentation can help male patients attain a more chiseled and masculine face shape, as well as a more youthful and attractive visage.

This procedure is ideal for patients with overly full cheeks and undefined cheekbones, but it can also be a great solution for those with hollow, sagging cheeks. It can help address the following issues:

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Male cosmetic surgery is often more complicated as it takes acute precision and artistry to achieve the desired results without compromising the masculinity of the face. It requires the expertise of a double-board certified facial plastic surgeon like Dr. Jacob Sedgh to ensure an outcome that meets the patient’s specific needs.

Apart from his expertise, he also has the artistic eye to guide him in retaining the masculine quality of the face while achieving optimum cheek definition and facial symmetry.

Under his care, patients can expect the following benefits:

MALE CHEEK AUGMENTATION PROCEDURE

The exact procedure will be different for each patient, as the techniques to be used will depend on the patient’s unique concerns and on the type of results they want to achieve. Generally, however, the standard procedure will involve strategic augmentation of the cheek’s bony and soft tissue components.

Bony Augmentation

With bony augmentation, the goal is to lift the position of the cheekbone and to improve its anterior or lateral projection. To sculpt the cheek into a more desirable and masculine shape, Dr. Sedgh may use one of two approaches: dermal fillers or facial implants.

Fillers are a temporary but long-lasting option. Dr. Sedgh will strategically inject a robust filler such as Restylane, Juvederm or Sculptra (also stimulates collagen production) into specific areas of the cheek to create the desired cheekbone shape.

Implants, on the other hand, are for those seeking a more permanent outcome. Once the implant has been prepared, the doctor will administer a local anesthetic before carefully making a hidden incision inside the mouth through which the implant will be inserted.

Soft Tissue Augmentation

The soft tissue component of the cheeks, which includes skin, muscle, and fat, can be augmented using either dermal fillers or fat grafts. Both methods involve the strategic injection of the chosen material directly into the area, and are designed to help increase fullness in the cheeks and achieve a healthier, more youthful look.

Excess cheek fat can also be addressed through a buccal fat removal procedure, which involves the removal or reduction of the buccal fat pads within the cheeks.

Cheek augmentation procedures are often performed in conjunction with chin and jaw augmentation to further improve the facial contours and increase the masculine quality of the face.

RECOVERY

Cheek augmentation is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, but this will still depend on the complexity of the surgery involved.

For the next couple of days, patients can expect some mild swelling, bruising, and general discomfort in the immediate area. These should begin to dissipate within 48 to 72 hours post-surgery, and all visible side effects should begin to disappear after two weeks.

As with any surgery, it is important to adhere to proper aftercare measures and to take the prescribed medications to ensure a smooth, healthy recovery.

Dr. Sedgh personally monitors every patient’s postoperative progress to help promote optimum healing and to ensure the integrity of the surgical results. Therefore, expect regularly scheduled follow-up appointments from the first post-surgery day up to a year after.
