MALE FACELIFT PROCEDURE

Before the procedure begins, you will be sedated with either local or general anesthesia. Small incisions will then be created to access the connective tissues and muscles underneath the face. The placement of the incisions will depend on several factors, such as the patient’s facial hair, sideburn placement, height of the hairline, and more. Every patient is different, which is why Dr. Sedgh will carefully plan out the most strategic incision locations to avoid a significant beard or hairline shift, as well as to eliminate visible scars.

Incision depth will also depend on the technique to be used for your specific case. Dr. Sedgh uses advanced facelift techniques to reposition the skin and underlying facial tissues to achieve the desired facelift results.

He may also redistribute facial fat or use fillers, implants, or fat injections to add volume to areas that need it to create a more youthful look. Skin-only pulling is highly avoided as it can result in a very unnatural outcome. Therefore, Dr. Sedgh will make sure that sagging facial skin, muscles, and fat are all manipulated and sutured into place to ensure highly natural, long-lasting results.

Dr. Sedgh will then remove any excess facial tissues, close the incisions, and apply bandages or dressings to the treated area. A male facelift takes about three to four hours, but can extend up to six hours when performed with other cosmetic procedures such as a neck lift, facial implants, resurfacing techniques, or injection of fat or fillers.

RECOVERY

A facelift is an outpatient procedure, so you will be able to go home on the same day of the surgery. However, make sure to have someone with you for the first 24 hours to ensure your safety.

Most patients may notice swelling, bruising, and even mild to moderate discomfort or pain in the first days following the procedure, but these should diminish in the next 10 to 14 days and can be managed through special medications and aftercare instructions.

The first follow-up meeting will take place one day after the surgery, followed by several additional meetings throughout the first week. If the patient cannot do a clinic visit, Dr. Sedgh can also conduct these follow-ups through phone or Skype. In the interest of a fast, comfortable, and healthy recovery, Dr. Sedgh will personally monitor and assess your healing and recovery progress for up to a year following the procedure.
